The ROYAL EYE HOSPITAL [Logo] "WILL SHE EVER SEE THE SUN AGAIN?" THE ROYAL EYE HOSPITAL Patron H.R.H. THE DUKE OF KENT Treasurer THE RT. HON. EARL BEATTY St. George's Circus LONDON . S.E.1 'phone: WATERLOO 4634-6015 Telephone: Whitehall 4085. Rebuilding Fund Appeal Office, 11, Little College Street, Westminster, S.W.1. 9th May, 1939. Dear Sir, You may perhaps know my name in connection with the Mary Macarthur Holiday Home which was opened by Her Majesty Queen Mary last month, and I hope, therefore, you will forgive me for approaching you on the following matter. You would probably, as I should, prefer to see the Hospitals run by the State, but under present conditions this is not possible, and until such a time comes they are dependant on voluntary contributions. On Alexandra Rose Day, the Royal Eye Hospital raises a certain amount of money, but owing to the fact that it is situated in one of the poorest areas of London it can only do this by supplementing its efforts by getting friends in different Firms etc: to allow them to sell the roses on the afternoon previous to the day. Would you allow us to bring a tray of roses round your offices, or better still, would you allow one of your Staff to help us in this way? The Hospital is so poor that anything of this kind is a very great help, as unlike those Hospitals on the other side of the River it has no rich friends. If you can allow us to make this collection we should be very thankful. Yours very truly Nellie Grange Social Secretary. Sir Walter Citrine, Trades Unions Congress, Transport House, S.W.1.
