Success in this effort can only be assured if you — the man interested — will do your bit to help; we want financial assistance, but we do not ask for your support without giving you the opportunity of having something to say in regard to the manner in which your money is being spent. Remember the Committees are representative in character, and the actual 1d. per week subscribers appoint their delegates on to the Executive Committee; your interests therefore are adequately safeguarded. Why do you belong to a trade union? Because you believe that by combined effort you can accomplish that which individually would be impossible, your power as an individual is small—so small as to be almost impotent. On the other hand, your collective power is invincible, there is nothing impossible to you, lend your support to a real constructive effort and take your place in the ranks of those who desire to see their fellow-men regain their place in useful service. Nothing is more pathetic than to see a man with ability wasting his life and talent, losing opportunity, being denied the right to develop his powers in the interest of himself and the community because of physical disability. It is pathetic because, given the opportunity, he could probably be completely restored. There are many people who are now incurable cripples but may not have been if they had received attention when they first needed it, they could not get the attention they required owing to their inability to pay for it; you can help to bring within the reach of those who may occupy this unfortunate position the possibility of recovery, even you may yourself require such treatment. Is it an expensive insurance? One shilling entrance fee and a minimum contribution of 1d. per week. Think of it. Talk of it. Examine it. Don't blindly make up your mind about it; write to the Secretary and arrange for a speaker to attend your branch meeting, shop meeting or club, or if you prefer it, make an
