The scale of basic wages for male nurses in institutions situated in urban areas is shown below in detail. To these basic rates the cost of living bonus referred to below must be added to ascertain the actual wage received: — NURSES APPOINTED PRIOR TO 17TH JULY, 1922. £ s. d. Minimum wage 2 0 0 per week. Service increments— On completion of 1st year's service 0 2 0 On completion of 2nd year's service 0 2 0 On completion of 3rd year's service 0 2 0 On completion of 4th year's service 0 2 0 On completion of 5th year's service 0 2 0 Proficiency pay 0 4 0 Extra on being appointed charge nurse 0 4 0 Maximum 2 18 0 per week. Furthermore, a bonus is paid by each institution to meet the extra cost of living prevailing in the district above that of July, 1914. Adjustments are made in accordance with the figures published by the "Labour Gazette.''
