How to use the bin properly and to keep it dry. Cleansing the yard and gully. Keeping the garden in order. The advantage of window-boxes of flowers giving gay appearance, conducing to care of windows and house. NOTES ON METHOD Very little of this particular group of topics provides subject matter for discussion with very young children. It may, however, be taken with advantage at the stage when girls are beginning to learn housecraft. They will understand that the kitchen is a place in which cleanliness is even more essential than elsewhere: and that here, in particular, methods of cleaning which "make dirt" are to be condemned. The great advantage of appliances which are dustless in operation, of surfaces which are easily cleaned, or organisation and arrangement which makes constant walking about unnecessary — these things are obvious when pointed out. It is important, too, that children should know something of the labour-saving devices which are beginning to make their way into inexpensive homes, since it is likely that the extension of 42 177/5/8/3
