Some foods are better than others for your complexion. Try watercress and brown bread and butter instead of marmalade and white bread at breakfast. Watercress washed thoroughly in salted water and chewed well is good for your blood and wonderful for your skin. A lunch or supper of lettuce, raw, with brown bread and cheese, and accompanied by a glass of milk sipped slowly, makes a splendid beauty diet. But mind you chew raw foods specially well, else they may "repeat." All fresh green foods and fruit are good for the complexion. Stewed fruit, heavily sugared, is not half so good. Remember that super-cleanliness will work a miracle on a sallow skin. Do you ever give yourself a face massage at home? It is a splendid tonic, especially if you are very tired, and the muscles of your face seem to ache, and you can feel the rings round your eyes. First of all you get all the hair out of the way — an old bathing cap is best to save wetting the hair. Wring your flannel out in hot water and lay it on your face for a few minutes; repeat this about six times, making the water a little hotter each time. Then massage the face gently with a little cold cream. Rub gently upwards, following the line of the muscles. With electricity in the home, it is possible to have facial massage by this method. The apparatus is not costly. At first massage for only ten minutes; later when you have got used to it you may massage for from fifteen to twenty minutes. After rubbing, clean the face carefully with warm water, removing all signs of cream; wring out your face flannel in cold water and press on the face for four or five minutes to close the pores of the skin. When your head aches and your eyes ache after a very busy day in the house or at the office, a face massage at bed-time makes you feel relaxed and sleepy.
