Description
Summary:034-0181-001 The Edinburgh and District Joint Committee for Spanish Relief. 51, Glendevon Terrace, Murrayfield, Edinburgh, 12. 7th May, 1937. Secretary, National Joint Council of Labour, Transport House (South Block), Smith Square, London, S.W.1. Dear Sir, The above Committee at a recent meeting passed the following resolution: Recognising the invaluable service the International Brigade has been to the cause of Democracy in Spain and the importance this is to the rest of the world, and believing that this recognition is shared by all who have contributed to the funds for Spanish Relief collected by the National Joint Council of Labour, this Committee requests the National Joint Council of Labour to allocate a portion of these funds to the dependants of members of the International Brigade. It would be gratifying to all who are contributing to Spanish Relief to know that your Council is not oblivious to the needs of the dependants of those brave men who have risked all in the fight for freedom and peace on the battlefields of Spain, and I hope I may soon be able to report to my Committee that you have given favourable consideration to its resolution. I am, Yours sincerely, Richard Cumming, Secretary. 292/946/34/181
