Brown Secretary, The Iron and Steel Trades Confederation Dear Sir & Bro., We beg you to forgive us for taking the liberty of drawing your attention to some literature which we sent you on the 25th September, dealing with the activities and and aims of 'Hogar Espanol', and appealing for financial support from your union. This organisation was founded four years ago to co-ordinate the efforts of all Spanish anti-fascist refugees in this country, whatever their political party, ideology or creed, to help our people in Spain to liberate themselves from the regime of Franco and to regain their rights to choose their own Government by legal and free electoral methods. To this aim we have dedicated all our endeavours ever since. We know that by doing this we are acting in an interest which is not only of ours but it is in common with that of all peoples who are fighting for the same anti-fascist and democratic cause. Our main activity is directed to bring home to the British people the actual picture of Spanish events and the developments and actions which the movement of opposition inside Spain is carrying out united by their common aims and wishes, which are reflected in the programme of National Union, and led by the Supreme Junta of National Unity. We believe that by spreading these facts among the British people, particularly the British working classes, we render a good service to our common cause.
