Em. V. Voska. Dr. J. Winternitz. Since July 18th, Republican Spain is being ravaged by the fascist generals and by international fascism. In spite of the savage bombardment of the civil population, in spite of the use of poison-gas, Madrid the capital holds out unwaveringly. Can the world regard unmoved such heroism and such great suffering? Can mothers clasp their children to their breasts without thinking of the thousand little children who in Spain are the victims of this atrocious war ? Great efforts have already been exerted throughout the world, with much result. Great has been the action of solidarity, many food-ships sent to Spain, much medical material, many ambulances, many red-cross aeroplanes, and this thanks to a million humble contributions. But this is not enough ! We must do more at this moment when Madrid is threatened and winter advances ! We are organising IN PARIS, ON JANUARY 16th and 17th 1937, 27, Rue Jean-Dolent, Paris (14e) Unterground : Saint - Jacques), A WIDE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE where all questions will be discussed which relate to the support which we must give to the victims of the rebellion in Spain : support to the wounded, widows, orphans, refugees and also to the hostages and to the civil population suffering under the rebel oppression. Our aid must be worthy of the spirit of sacrifice shown by the defenders of Madrid ! We must send speedily large quantities of warm clothing, food and medical material which is needed so sorely by the Republican and for want of which many a life is lost daily in Spain. To achieve this work of humanity, we must examine the results already obtained, we must exchange experiences gained by organisations in different countries we must coordinate and increase our efforts ! We appeal to all those to whom Dignity, Courage, Liberty and Culture are not vain and empty words ! We appeal to trades-unions, political and religious organisations, to all free open-minded individuals, for support in this struggle. Whatever your opinions, religion or race, we ask you to join us and to give your aid to the Spanish people. ON THE 16th AND 17th OF JANUARY MILLIONS OF HUMAN BEINGS MUST BE REPRESENTED AT OUR CONFERENCE ! EVERY EFFORT TO AID SUFFERING SPAIN ! ALL UNITED TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GREAT TASK !
