Substitute HVT/FC/EW/151 Secretary's. 15th July, 1937. Mr. J.C. Jones, 70 Jeffreys Road, Stockwell, S.W.4. Dear Mr. Jones, "Save the Basque Children" Fund. Many thanks for your further contribution of 17/2d. to the above fund, our official receipt for which is enclosed herewith. With regard to the second paragraph of your letter, I must point out that although the camp at Southhampton will be evacuated shortly, it will be necessary for the National Committee for the care of Basque Children, with which we are co-operating, to give financial aid to a large number of the centres to which the children have now been sent. With reference to your second query it was definitely laid down by the Basque Government that all the children should be repatriated as soon as circumstances permit, and the National Committee have undertaken to do this. Of course it is impossible to say how long the children will be retained in this country, and therefore you will realise the necessity for continued support to the fund. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary. Receipt.
