JSM/S/VH December 15, 1941 Mr. A. Bain, Epsom Divisional Labour Party, 13, The Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey. Dear Comrade Bain, With reference to your letter of the 17th November regarding the Basque children in Banstead, we have had conversations with Mrs. Miller, of the National Joint Committee for Spanish Relief and are advised that you and your comrades need not be unduly concerned about your inability to subscribe to their maintenance. Arrangements have been made to support the Spanish children in this country although the British Government, for certain reasons, have not been able to undertake the responsibility. If you will communicate with Mrs. Miller at 39, Victoria Street, London, S.W.1., stating the difficulties of our local friends, she will advise you of the course that should be followed. With kind regards, Yours very sincerely, Secretary
