Description
Summary:035-0004-001 STAMFORD AND DISTRICT TRADES COUNCIL REGISTERED BY THE TRADES UNION CONGRESS Secretary: F.H. LADDS 50, QUEEN'S WALK, STAMFORD, LINCS. 29th Aug., 1954 Sir Vincent Tewson, C.B.E., M.C., General Secretary, T.U.C., Transport House, London, S.W.1. Dear Sir, One of our affiliated branches has recently received a letter from an organisation calling themselves "International Brigade Association and Friends of Republican Spain" of 2 Parton Street, London, W.C.1. The letter tells a story of a trades unionist named Manuel Robles-Arangis who is awaiting trial for resistance to the Franco regime and then appeals for donations. The Secretary has asked for my views on this appeal and I would appreciate any information you could give about this organisation and particularly if the T.U.C. are of the opinion that local trades union branches should respond to this appeal. Yours faithfully, F.H. Ladds, Secretary. 292/946/35/4(i)
