Elvin, (In the Chair) A. Conley, George Gibson, Charles Dukes, A.A.H. Findlay, Will Lawther, C.R. Attlee, M.P. J.R. Clynes, M.P., D.R Grenfell, M.P. George Lathan, M.P., Herbert Morrison, M.P. Sir Walter Citrine, H. Scott Lindsay, J.S. Middleton, H.V. Tewson, W. Gillies, Robert Fraser (representing "Daily Herald') and other officials. It was reported that as it had been impossible to establish contact with Mr. Hugh Dalton, M.P., Mr George Dallas had attended as Vice-Chairman of the National Executive Committee. 105. SPAIN: Sir Walter Citrine reported that representations had been received on behalf of the Spanish Government and the Spanish Movement that support should be given by the British Movement to their urgent request that the Franco-Spanish Frontier should be re-opened for the passage of arms etc. Considerable discussion ensued as to whether it would be most advisable at that stage to issue a public pronouncement upon the Spanish Situation in support of the Spanish demand, or whether a Deputation should be appointed to present the views of the Council to the Government. Finally, it was RESOLVED : "That the following members of the Council form a Deputation to the Foreign Secretary to urge the restoration of International Rights to the Spanish Government and the re-opening of the Franco-Spanish Frontier, and that the British Government should be urged to intimate its support of the French Government in this action: Messrs. Elvin, Dallas, Dukes, Clynes, Citrine, Middleton, and W. Gillies."
