Extract from N.C.L. Minutes 21st June 38 (g) Anniversary of the Rebellion: The Chairman drew attention to the fact that July 18th would be the second anniversary of the outbreak of the Spanish Revolt, and discussion took place upon the manner in which the anniversary could be appropriately noted. It was indicated that the General Council had received representations from a number of affiliated Unions in favour of the summoning of a Conference of Trade Union Executives and that the Labour Party during the past three months had received Resolutions in favour of the summoning of an Emergency Conference of the Party from nearly 200 Constituency Parties. On the one hand, the General Council had failed to secure any concrete proposal for discussion, and on the other, the Resolutions received by the Labour Party were also of a most general character. The matter was to be discussed by the two National Committees on the following day. After further discussion, it was RESOLVED: "That the Officers publish an appropriate Manifesto on behalf of the National Council of Labour on July 18th, and that the Co-operative Authority be invited to associate with its issue."
