Description
Summary:017a-0065-001 N.C.L. Minutes 22nd May 38 89. SPAIN. It was reported that a highly successful Demonstration had been held in the Albert Hall on Sunday, May 22nd, and that other Demonstrations had been held in various centres with varying successes, although in some instances very gratifying amounts had been collected on behalf of the International Solidarity Fund. (The total amount received up to May 24th was £1,300 = £700 cash and £600 promises). It was also reported that there had been unfortunate delays in connection with the delivery of miniature Spanish Flags for transmission to the Constituency and Local Labour Parties, although it was anticipated that there would be a further demand as a number of organisations were planning Flag Days for subsequent dates. MINEWORKERS FEDERATION OF GREAT BRITAIN: It was reported that the Mineworkers' Federation of Great Britain were planning to raise £85,000 by means of a special levy upon their membership. After discussion, it was RESOLVED: "That the officers of the Council consult with the officers of the Mineworkers Federation with regard to the utilisation of the existing machinery for distribution of relief in Spain." 292/946/17a/65
