Description
Summary:017a-0063-001 Telegraphic Address: "LABREPCOM, SOWEST, LONDON." Telephone: VICTORIA 8016, 8017, 8018, 8019 THE LABOUR PARTY TRANSPORT HOUSE (South Block), SMITH SQUARE, LONDON, S.W.1 Secretary: J.S. MIDDLETON Telephone "Victoria 9434" May, 1938. Dear Colleague, NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LABOUR SPAIN DEMONSTRATION. ROYAL ALBERT HALL. SUNDAY, MAY 22nd, 1938. In connection with the above Demonstration, of which the whole London Movement will desire to make a great success, we are sending you a supply of posters and handbills. The posters are for immediate display in Party premises and in the windows of Party members. We are arranging a separate fly-posting campaign in the London Boroughs. Handbills. With regard to the Handbills, we shall be grateful if Parties in the County of London will secure a thorough distribution of these in the most likely parts of their own areas. It is desirable that the distribution should be done immediately as the demand for tickets has already started and is likely to be very heavy. To Parties outside the County of London we are enclosing a few leaflets which we shall be glad if they will use to the best advantage. Sale of Tickets. We have arranged a large number of selling centres throughout London and I enclose a list herewith. We recommend that tickets required by Parties not included in this list should be bought from the nearest selling centre, though tickets will also be available at the offices of the Labour Party, address as above. It is not possible to permit the issue of tickets on a "sale or return" basis, either from the selling centres or from here, as each ticket is for a particular reserved seat and we cannot risk any going astray. We shall be grateful if all Parties will immediately do their utmost to organise sales as there is going to be a brisk demand for tickets and we should not like your members to be disappointed. Find out quickly what tickets your members want, get their money and send order with cash to your nearest selling centre. Yours sincerely, MORGAN W. PHILLIPS, Propaganda Officer. To Borough & Divisional Labour Parties and Trades Councils. NAD 238. 292/946/17a/63
