P.O. Barcelona, 19th June. To-day the International Walking Federation told the organising committee that it would officially take part in the Peoples' Olympiad at Barcelona. The letter of the International Walking Federation to the Peoples' Olympiad Organisaing Committee states that the latter can count on the participation of the International Walking Federation in the Barcelona games. The Federation further desires information as to the number of nations participation, and particularly the strength of the light athletes. With this letter from the International Walking Federation was a message from the "Union Francaise de Marche", the official French walking association, asking for a detailed programme. The "Union Francaise Marche", numbering 100,000 members, will take part in the Peoples Olympiad at the wish of the French government, The letter concludes with thanks and wishes for the best of success to those really Olympic games, that are open to all. The committee of the Peoples' Olympiad takes pleasure in greeting this step of the French Walking Federation. For the first time in the history of sport an official association of amateurs is taking part in an international institution, together with worker athletes of all tendencies, independent associations and individual sportsmen, The Peoples' Olympiad in Barcelona, the greatest international, truely Olympic manifestation, free to all progressively thinking sportsmen, has opened a new way.
