Tel. Swansea 88277. ARDWYN, SKETTY, SWANSEA. Sir Walter Citrine T.U.C. General Council Transport House S.W.1 Dear Walter, I think Sir Arthur Pugh would be a good choice if he could be accompanied by someone who speaks Spanish. Have you spoken to Attlee. He suggested Wedgwood Benn's name to me while we were in the room at the last meeting. He agreed with me at once when I said it would be of great advantage to have an experienced negotiator preferably with knowledge of transport and distribution problems. I really can not think of anyone who may be at liberty. I do not think our man would need to go anywhere but to Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Carthagena. - All places accessible by car & rail from Valencia He might go to Madrid but need not stay long there. I am glad you ar[e] going to give a little m[ore] detailed information about the Aid to Spain. I am meeting criticism at some of the meetings but I have no difficulty in defending the N.C.L. and myself. Yours sincerely D.R. Grenfell
