Description
Summary:011-0038-001 Telephone: MUSEUM 8886 Telegram MINFEDBRIT. WESTCENT. LONDON THE MINEWORKERS' FEDERATION OF GREAT BRITAIN 50 Russell Square London W.C.1 13th October 1937. Secretary Ebby Edwards Sir Walter Citrine, K.B.E., General Secretary, The Trades Union Congress, Transport House, Smith Square, London, S.W.1. Dear Sir, ASTURIAS MINERS' I have had a visit from Mr. Julio Alvarez Del Vago of Spain. Prior to seeing me I understand he had an interview with you thus there will be no need for me to restate his appeal on behalf of the Asturian Miners'. The letter that appears in the New Leader of October 8th., 1937, from Fenner Brockway, I have not even acknowledged. The reason is obvious. My Executive Committee will be meeting in London on Friday. Can I assure them that you are taking this matter up as part of the general position with the authorities regarding Spain? Once separate sections begin to butt in I am sure it will weaken your national Labour Appeal. Hoping to hear from you for Friday's meeting. I remain, Yours truly. Ebby Edwards 292/946/11/38
