International. HVT/EAB/AT/326 14th December, 1938. The Rt. Hon. F.W. Pethick-Lawrence, M.P., 11 Old Square, Lincoln's Inn, W.C.2. Dear Mr. Pethick-Lawrence, ANGLO-SPANISH CLEARING AGREEMENT Thank you very much for your letter of the 8th instant regarding the conversation you had with two representatives of the Spanish Trade Union Movement about the Anglo-Spanish Clearing Agreement. I am exceedingly glad to learn that you have taken the matter up with Mr. Hudson, Secretary for Overseas Trade, and note that he suggests it would be better for one of his officials to have an opportunity of talking personally with the representative of the Spanish Consulate. I would suggest, therefore, that you approach Mr. Fernandez Shaw, who is the Spanish Commercial Attache (21 Cavendish Square, W.1.), and who was also present at your interview. I am sure he will be very glad of any arrangement which can be made for him to talk the matter over with an official from the Overseas Trade. With many thanks for your assistance and every good wish, Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary
