International. WMC/WJB/DT/395. 11th December, 1942. Private & Confidential Rt. Hon, Anthony Eden, M.C., M.P., Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Office, Downing Street, S.W.1. Dear Mr. Eden, Senor Jose Rodriguez Vega. Once again I venture to ask for your assistance concerning a former Spanish Trade Union leader. I have been informed that Senor Jose Rodriguez Vega who was Secretary of the Union General de Trabajadores, is now in Lisbon living under the assumed name of Ramirez Villamil. He is aiming to join his family in Mexico, but before going to that country, my colleagues and I would very much like to see him in London. I must confess that I have no means of checking up on this case, but it has been hinted to me that it is known to the British Intelligence Service. If that is so and Senor "Ramirez Villamil" is indeed the former Secretary of the Spanish T.U.C. his presence in this country obviously would be useful from many points of view. Could you kindly see your way to have enquiries made and assuming that it is really Senor Jose Rodriguez Vega, the onetime Secretary of the Spanish T.U.C. have arrangements made so that he could have the necessary facilities for making the journey? Thanking you in advance,Y Yours sincerely, General Secretary.
