Dear Mr. Tewson, RELIEF TO SPANISH SEAMEN. I am herewith enclosing you accounts in connection with the above totalling £609.3.9, plus £5. Administration expenses for postal order poundage, postages, cheques and out of pocket expenses incurred, making a grand total of £614.3.9. I would be much obliged if you would let us have a cheque in settlement of this amount. I am getting a little bit tired of a lot of busybodies telephoning this office and trying to make arrangements in connection with the relief of Spanish seamen, and also letters received from various Trades Councils suggesting we should give the men cigarettes, socks and other comforts. If I had known we were going to be inundated by correspondence and telephone enquiries regarding this matter, I would never have taken it on, and I will certainly be glad to hand it over to you within the next fortnight. You will appreciate that I have plenty of work to do without being pestered by all and sundry who have an alleged interest in Spanish refugee seamen's welfare. Yours faithfully, Geo.
