Description
Summary:030-0148-001 Secretary's. HVT/FC/474. 24th June, 1938. Mr. W. Schevenels, The International Federation of Trade Unions, 9, Avenue D'orsay, PARIS, VIIe. Dear Mr. Schevenels, INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY FUND. We have received notification from a responsible English Socialist worker in Valencia that she is continually getting urgent requests for soap, especially from the South of Spain. She says that the problem of hygiene there is particularly acute at this season. Refugees have told her that they would willingly go without food if only they could have soap to keep themselves clean. I am wondering if anything can be done in conjunction with Santiago in this connection. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary 292/946/30/148
