Description
Summary:030-0104-001 Secretary's. HVT/FC/573. 4th August, 1938. Mr. W. Schevenels, The International Federation of Trade Unions, 9, Avenue D'Orsay, PARIS, VIIe. Dear Mr. Schevenels, SHOES FOR SPAIN. I have been informed that the National Union of Boot and Shoe Operatives have granted a sum of £100 for the provision of shoes to be sent to Spain. With the money they are sending 270 pairs of good serviceable footwear for men, and have intimated that they think they will be useful to those actively engaged in the rigours of the present campaign. I have advised the Union in regard to their consigning the goods to Santiago, and they will be sent by boat to Rouen and from there overland. I am not yet advised as to the boat on which they will be leaving, but despatch will be made from the factory at Bristol next Monday, August 8th, and the possibility is that there may be a boat sailing from there next week. As soon as I can give you further particulars as to despatch I will again communicate with you. Probably you would inform Santiago of the possibility of the consignment arriving within the course of the next two weeks. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary. 292/946/30/104
