Many thanks for your letter of the 3rd instant enclosing cheque for £1,000 being the remittance of £750 which has been forwarded to Mr. Schevenels, and £250 for the Spanish seamen. I have pleasure in enclosing our official receipt for £1,000. I have not yet heard from Mr. Schevenels regarding the disposal of £2,000 for food for the Spanish refugees on the French frontier, but you may rest assured that as soon as I receive word from him I will immediately get into touch with you.
