Dear Mr. Schevenels, HELP FOR THE WORKERS OF SPAIN FUND. Yesterday we transferred to your account with the Co-operative Wholesale Society Bank (M.I.18 D) the sum of 25,000 in connection with the above Fund. The amount received here to day is £9,880. This includes 5,000 dollars from the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America, and 10,000 dollars from Mr. Dubinsky of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. This sum was made up as follows:- 5,000 dollars from the Furriers, 2,000 dollars from the Workmen's Circle, 2,000 dollars from the Dressmakers of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, 1,000 dollars from the Cloakmakers of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, Individual subscriptions continue to come in and many Unions are organising workshop collections throughout their branches. Other Unions, owing to the holiday period, have not had meetings of their Executives since the appeal was sent out, and we shall, of course, be receiving their subscriptions later. The largest Unions, however, have sent in contributions. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary. P.S. I am enclosing the Bank's receipt for £5,000.
