Summary:1936-11-15 041-0012-005 MINUTES OF MEETING ON 15.11.36. OF TRANSPORT WORKERS. VEHICLES. It was the unanimous agreement of the transport that the present new ambulances had been overdriven in their first 500 miles and furthermore that they were unsuitable for ambulance work under any conditions which we have to meet, owing to their bad design and unreliability. Further reference to this subject was made later in the meeting. PETROL AND OIL. Under present conditions gasoline should be collected regularly by the duty driver for the day from both Torres and Tardients, two valos being taken and the maximum of gasoline collected. On return to Granen the gasoline not consumed by the ambulance consuming same, should be placed in the B.M.U. stores and signed for by C. Bing. The duties of servicing ambulances with fuel shall be the business of C. Bing. a constant check of consumption and delivery of fuel will therefore be kept. AUSTIN AMBULANCE It was decided that this vehicle should be stripped, the body being used for a store and the chassis and engine being equipped with a flat body and used as a breakdown and general runabout. FURTHER POINTS FROM DISCUSSION AT MEETING OF TRANPORT CONCERNING FURTHER NEW EQUIPMENT 1. It was agreed by all members that new equipment was certainly necessary. For various reasons present transport was obsolete. 2. X In order to equip us with new transport we must bear in mind that the firms from which we wish to purchase these vehicles maintain a standard of production and sales which makes it impossible for us to get immediate delivery on application. 3. The time we suggest would be in the region of approximately 2½ to 3 months. By this time the vehicles would be in service at Granen. 4. The negotiations in London would take time. These completed under conditions befere ascertained, the representative of the Unit proceeds to France in order to purchase these vehicles and have the specification body fitted.
