Description
Summary:1936-11 041-0012-006 LONDON COMMITTEE It is agreed by the Transport that this body is incapable of appreciating the conditions and necessity of hundred per cent ambulances for the work we are faced with in Spain. For this reason we feel that the work of equipment should the sole contract of the Transport in Granen. Criticism outside the Unit of Comrade Farr's knowledge and organisation and negotiations in Paris with Renault motors was extremely unfortunate for us here in Spain. We are now placed with a second complement of vehicles costing approximately £800. which in a period of three months under these conditions will be practically obsolete and it is impossible for reconstruction in design to be made with these vehicles. The whole structure of the stretcher is good but the height of the body renders it impossible to work with the top one, and furthermore, owing to the lack of correct springing and the upright stantions of the stretchers not being sunk in rubber cushions the whole carriage is under constant sawy and vibration. Further, the body is definitely too high. Criticism of mechanical nature was plentiful and condemning. NEW EQUIPMENT. Cost approximately £1,000 2 complete General motors or Ford 30-cwt.chasis specification, ambulance body, independent springing, internal heating etc. Specification, layout and equipment of Spanish Fords to acquired from Fords, Barcelona. OLD EQUIPMENT. Such equipment as is any good to be used to the best advantage and the remainder donated to the Del Barrio column for General Transport. LONDON COMMITTEE. To be advised through letter from Transport and personally by Comrade Poole. Amendments to this effect proposed by Hunt and seconded by Poole and carried unanimously. With permission of Administration Poole to proceed to London and negotiate with Committee there at earliest possible opportunity. (SIGNED) CHARLES HUNT. CHARLES BING.
