Description
Summary:041-0050-001 HVT/EK/618. Secretary's. 1st April, 1937. Mr, L. Witt, The Joint Council of the Southampton Trades Council, Labour Party and Co-operative Society, Prospect House, 160, Above Bar, SOUTHAMPTON. Dear Mr. Witt, MEDICAL AID FOR SPAIN. Referring to your letter of the 29th March, we are very pleased to learn that further assistance is to be forthcoming from your Joint Council. Immediately upon receipt of your letter I got through to Paris to the Secretary of the International Solidarity Fund in regard to your suggestions. You will probably be aware that through the medium of the Fund a base hospital has now been opened with 250 beds, and it is hoped to increase this number as finances permit. Mr. Schevenels stated that an anaesthetic apparatus would be very welcome in the hospital, and I am today seeing our Medical Adviser for his advice in regard to the anaesthetic apparatus. I hope to write you more definitely tomorrow after I have had a word with our Dr. Morgan. Many thanks for the interest of your Council in this matter. Yours faithfully, Assistant Secretary. 292/946/41/50
