Description
Summary:034-0066-001 WEST LEYTON [DIV.] LABOUR PARTY. Headquarters: THE GRANGE, 70. GRANGE PARK ROAD, LEYTON, E.10. Parliamentary Representative: R.W. SORENSEN, M.P., E.C.C. Financial Secretary: Miss. G.A. Bond, 1b, Dawlish Road, E.10. President: Coun. A. G. Bussey. Hon. Secretary: H.R. Underhill, 9, Wilmot Road. E.10. Please Reply to Secretary. Secretary Sir Walter Citrine, TRADES UNION CONGRESS GENERAL COUNCIL p.c. ack noted 17/7/39. Dear Comrade, This Party has had before it Mr. Attlee's appeal for the International Brigade Memorial Fund; despite our heavy burden we recognise our "debt of honour" to these gallant comrades and we have donated £1 to this fund. I am instructed to urge that the General Council immediately send a communication to affiliated trade unions inviting them to make up the balance at present outstanding on this fund. My Committee feels the great trade union Movement could quite easily find the total sum required and prove its recognition of the debt all democrats owe to the members of the Brigade. Yours fraternally, H.R. Underhill Hon General Secretary. 292/946/34/66
