A little known film drama, disliked by the censors, about a socialist temp agency and its clients. It was not shown until eight years after it was completed. The manager of a factory has to unload a wagon full of goods. He can't afford to pay decent money for the job but he does have some funds earmarked for entertaining foreign visitors. He hires eleven workers and invites them to a party as foreign guests. The temp agency workers - normally held in contempt – are not depicted here merely as people living on the margins of society. As many critics pointed out, Gruza draws our attention to people who are normally dismissed as uninteresting and makes various less than optimistic points about labor and manipulation. |
