Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary Sándor Kiss, professor of philosophy and education, an organizer of the Independent Smallholders' Party and leader of the Peasant Alliance, answered the committee's questions about Hungary before the revolution, and the events at the beginning of the revolution, with particular interest in the question: who called the Soviets for assistance.
