Summary: | A popular fairytale from late-socialist times. The film presents the adventures of two little girls, Maria and Mirabella, and their encounters with several magical characters, among them a frog (Oache) with his feet frozen in ice, a firebug (Scaparici) whose shoes keep catching fire, and a butterfly (Omide) who's afraid of flying. To help their new friends, the girls must carry them to a sorceress who lives deep in the Magical Forest. All the characters will have to help each other to prove their personal worth, which can end their predicament. The film combines movie and cartoon images, its songs became extremely popular in the former socialist bloc countries. The movie is a co-production of Romania and the Soviet Socialist Republic of Moldova. The film was released in Russian and Romanian versions. |
