Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations. Security Council Statements were made by Chile, Hungary, Ukraine SSR; the Dominican Republic, Portugal. The Dominican Republic requested that the Hungarian representative's seat at the United Nations be denied. Portugal hailed the unanimous agreement between five countries in indicting Soviet actions in Hungary. Hungary strongly protested against the Special Committee report
