Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations. Security Council Includes statements made by Hungary, Denmark, the Philippines, Argentina and the USSR. The Philippines maintained that there is no justification for the Soviet intervention, since even a request for intervention would be a pretext and not justified, given that there is nothing in the Warsaw Pact or the Soviet-Hungarian Peace Treaty which provides for such intervention.
