Principal contributor(s): United Nations. General Assembly The new draft resolution AL255 was proposed. According to the Pakistani representative, "the UN does not have the physical means to force compliance with General Assembly resolutions. But we do have at our disposal the public opinion of many nations, great and small, and of hundreds of millions of the world's people. This is the most powerful force, it is united in its sympathy for the Hungarian people in their struggle for freedom". Several representatives of the Soviet Bloc countries resolutely oppose the resolution, calling it a fabrication.
