Summary: | The series is the continuation of the series HU OSA 300-81-4 and consists of 40-50-page bulletins under different titles that reflect changes connected to the formation of new independent states in the territory of the former Soviet Union. The set of bulletins "The Baltic States Today", "Belarus Today", "The Caucasus and Transcaucasia", "Central Asia and Kazakhstan", "CIS Today" (later changed into "Russia and CIS Today"), "Latvia Today", "Moldova and Dniester Region", "Ukraine Today" were compiled on a daily basis by the Monitoring Unit and, after is dissolution, by information agencies from Moscow, Minsk, Kiev and Riga.
The bulletins contain clippings from the national press, news agencies materials and also transcripts of TV and radio programs. Each bulletin contains a table of contents in Russian or in English.
The materials cover a wide range of topics regarding economy, foreign policy and relations within the CIS and with Western countries, and other political, social and culture-related issues.
