In the far northeastern corner of Finland, close to the Russian border, there is not much work for young people. As a result, they either have to move to larger cities to find work or stay and wait for an opportunity to present itself. The three idle young men portrayed in this film - Lötkö, Hapa and Bodi - are representative of the new, disoriented generation of the Finnish north. They hang around drinking beer and looking for a good time but this is not all they want. They would like to get a job, but they have no work experience, so they have very little chance of finding employment. On the threshold of adulthood, the boys are still struggling to gain their independence. |
