Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary The committee asked György Pálóczi-Horváth in connection with his earlier statement. Witness MMM was a lawyer in Budapest from 1939 onwards, and a member of the Smallholders' Party. He was arrested by the Hungarian political police and taken to the Soviet Union, then released in 1955. He gave an account of the events in Southern Hungary and Budapest during the revolution. The committee asked him about the Smallholders' Party, and then about his arrest, interrogation and trial.
