Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): Canada. Delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations Canada was one of the co-sponsors of the draft resolution. According to the statement of the Canadian representative, the Committee's report is a sober and factual account of what happened in Hungary during these tragic days and its conclusions flow simply and directly from the mass of facts obtained from a great number of witnesses.
