Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): Péter Mód; Permanent Mission of Hungary Memorandum from Mr. Péter Mód, the Permanent Representative of the Hungarian People's Republic to the United Nations, stating that many Hungarian citizens who left in connection with the uprising now wish to return to Hungary. Memorandum reaffirms the right of repatriation and calls on international organizations and receiving states to facilitate, rather than obstruct, this effort by providing accurate and timely information and assistance to those who wish to return to Hungary.
