Summary: | Coproduction: Germany, Luxembourg. Verzio FF Submission
Five stories of a dream of freedom and the crushing reality of Stasi (East German secret police) detention. The protagonists – Catharina, Andreas, Lothar, Anne and Mario – represent the group of around 72,000 ex-convicts imprisoned in the GDR for attempting to flee the republic. Memories of humiliations, torture surface: mental torture with lies about loved ones, rape committed by criminal co-inmates with the complicity of the interrogators are just the few of the "softening" methods used by the Statsi. Once the terror is over how does life go on with these memories? Truth and reconciliation after the fall of the Wall. |
