Description
Summary:Verzio FF Submission A documentary film about the labor camp in Csolnok, Hungary, which “employed” nearly 2,000 political prisoners between 1952 and 1956. In the mines, prisoners worked together with civilians who many times risked their jobs and freedom to help the prisoners communicate with outside world by carrying letters, smuggling news. In 1956 the political prisoners set up a hunger strike and formed a Revolutionary Committee, liberating themselves in order for them to join the uprising beginning on October 23, 1956. After the crushed revolution, the camp operated a few more years until it was permanently closed in the early 1970s.
