Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary Witness KKK, a member of a workers' council, gave a statement about the events at Győr. Witness LLL gave an account of the events at the radio building on 23 October in Budapest. János Hadik [pen name], an engineer, talked about the uranium mines; Sándor Hódi, a newspaperman, made a statement about the difficulties of the free press in Hungary. György Pálóczi-Horváth, writer and historian, made a statement. The committee asked him about the conduct of show trials and his opinion on the possibilities for changes to the ownership of land.
