Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. The agreement for "temporary stationing" of Soviet troops in Hungary was signed by the foreign and defense ministers of both countries. It was announced that the agreement is based on the principles of independence, national sovereignty, equality and non-interference in each other's domestic affairs.
