Description
Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. The committee asked Witness MM in connection with his earlier statement: about his imprisonment in the Soviet Union. Witness NN, a stenographer at Győr Free Radio, gave a statement about the events she witnessed. The committee asked Witness OO, a member of the revolutionary committee of painters and artists, further questions in connection with the statement the witness previously gave to the secretariat in writing. Witness PP, a high school student in Budapest and a student representative before the revolution, was an assistant at the hospital during the fighting. She gave a statement about her work there and the Soviet soldiers she met. She was asked about Radio Free Europe's broadcasts.
