The documentary depicts the story of Quilombo Sao Jose de Serra, a social organization of 200 "quilombolas" who have fought for the preservation of their African traditions in Rio de Janeiro since 1850. During a day off, a group pf photojournalists ventured to a Jongo celebration in honor of the "Pretos-Velhos" ("Old Blacks"). Equipped with their cameras, they spent 26 hours capturing images of Jongo. This is an account of their experience. |
