Summary: | "Dies Irae, Dies Illa.. " are the opening words of the Sequence of the Latin Requiem mass that the director Jean-Gabriel Periot chose as the opening and closing epigraphs of his short artistic documentary. The preface to the film, translated from Latin into English reads: "Remember, That I am the cause of your journey. Do not forget me on that day." The quickly alternating sequence of images of roads, railways, passages, subways, airports, etc. shot all over the world may initially seem like an allegory of a journey, which spans continents and times. The visual clippings are accompanied by a disturbing soundtrack, a blend of various ethnic vocals. As the soundtrack becomes increasingly alarming the peaceful "journey" takes us through the Auschwitz gatesand right up to the gas chambers. |
