“The Demons of Eden” is the story of Lydia Cacho, a courageous writer and feminist confronting powerful businessmen and politicians who protect a child pornography ring operating in Cancun and the United States. Lydia narrates her struggle with those powerful forces since she was kidnapped and incarcerated for a couple of days. She reveals her motivations and emotions, and the paradoxes that emerge when she investigates and publishes her book “The Demons of Eden.” The documentary includes testimonies of journalists such as Blanche Petrich, Jorge Zepeda and Alfredo Jalife Rhame, the group of lawyers Olea & Olea, the human rights activists Martin Barrios, Rodrigo Hernández, Gastón de la Luz and Julio Glockner and the voices and images of some of the “demons”: Succar Kuri, senator Gamboa Patrón, businessman Kamel Nacif and Puebla´s governor Mario Marin among others. |
