They appeared in the weekly publication of underground Solidarity for the Warsaw region.
Declaration of Solidarity by Young People[from: Biuletyn Dolnośląski, no. 5(63) (May/June 1985)]Despite the increased sovietization of education in Poland, there are still young people who perceive that the education they receive is one-sided and who aspire to a broader and more democratic concept of learning. This declaration voices some of their views. It appeared in "Biuletyn Dolnośląski," an underground monthly published by Fighting Solidarity in Wrocław.
The Battle for the Youth[from: Replika, no. 36 (April 1985)]This article describes how the Polish Security Police [Służba Bezpieczeństwa (SB)] use and control drug addiction among young people in order to deprave them and to enlist their services as collaborators. It is published in an independent monthly by the information service of Fighting Solidarity in Lower Silesia.
Attitudes among Young People / by St. Nowak[from: Kontakty, no. 26 (October 1985)]The author of this article, St. Nowak, is presumed to be the well-known sociologist and former Chairman of the Sociological Association in Warsaw. The article appeared in a monthly underground journal published in Gdańsk by people connected with independent education in Poland. It describes the various escape mechanisms employed by young people to enable them to cope with their professional and private life in Poland today.
The Specter of Sovietization[from: Vacat, no. 27 (April 1985)]These are lengthy excerpts from an article deploring the developments in the attitudes and behavior of post-Solidarity youth, published in a Warsaw sociopolitical monthly.
A Competition: How I See School[from: Promieniści, no. 16(55) (22 April 1985)]The biweekly published in Kraków for high-school students set a competition in October 1984 that asked for impressions of present-day state schools. Thirteen entries were received (including two plays), and three of them were published. The elisions in the text were all made by the editors of "Promieniści."
A Letter from an 11-Year-Old from a Czechoslovak Summer Camp[from: Solidarność Walcząca, no. 19(112) (22-29 September 1985)]This note from a boy to his mother was published in the biweekly publication of Fighting Solidarity in Wrocław.
