Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary The committee asked József Kővágó further questions in connection with his statement: about the proclamations of Imre Nagy, statements by Ernő Gerő and Béla Kovács, the demonstrations at the beginning of the revolution, the work of the committee conducting negotiations with the Soviet Union for the withdrawal of Hungary from the Warsaw Treaty, and the most important parties in Hungary.
